32 meg ram, 120 meg swap(over kill)

it was quake.x11 that was crashing.
i've also tried xquake and xf86quake.
xquake and xf86quake both shut down saying that
the shareware version does not support modified games.

i finally tried squake and it worked great.
i got my butt kicked  :-(
