[aclug-L] modem problems...

ok, i'm getting closer...  i can get john's instructions on southwind to come 
close, just not close enuf...  i get dialup and everything, just never am 
logged in, i think...  i've tried kppp, but the modem won't even respond 
(ideas??)...  the following is what is contained in /var/log/messages when i 
attempt to execute 'pppd /dev/modem 115200':
