You have to understand how things work at LSI Logic.  They do all the
manufacturing positions & student internships through temp agencies, the
engineering positions are direct hires.  If you have a degree, there are
lots of entry level engineering positions open there.  Just because you got
laid off from manufacturing doesn't mean you can't get hired there.
Generally, the route to a good job there doesn't involve working your way up
from manufacturing anyhow (certainly not the quickest route...)
