One topic I have have been thinking of for quite a while now is security.
How do you set up a Linux box so it is secure on an office network or
connected to the internet? It would be good to show how hackers break into
systems - from the educational standpoint. What loopholes do the various
distributions leave open that we shoud be aware of?
Another topic would be somewhat related to the file system suggestion
someone else had - how to set up/personalize the layout of your account.
While I'm still relatively new to using this operating system, I have
always had a system for what applications are stored where, and how I
organize my data files. I can see that this will need to be revised as I
learn Linux. Having a system for storing things that allows the minimum
directory navigation could prove helpful. Methods for archiving old files
would be interesting, too.
Of course, I'm also sure I could benefit from a John Goerzen Teaches Typing
session. ;-)
(For those of you that don't know, John needs to keep a fire extinguisher
nearby in case his great speed causes yet another keyboard to spontaneously
combust - it turns out that the billions of dollars NASA has been spending
on creating a super-cooled keyboard for use on Venus can be justified...)
