Hi Jeremy!

(I've gotta sound excited, considering what I have to tell you in the
next paragraph. <g>)

Unfortunately, to be quite blunt, WINE at this point is not usable for
much past solitaire, and Linux has some very nice Solitaire games,
thank you :-)

WABI on the other hand has been reputed to be "fair" in general, but
at this point, Linux doesn't have "excellent" emulation of Windows.

Linux does have excellent DOS emulation, though, and we can take a
look at that sometime if there is interest.

My personal take on this (and I'm sure that there is disagreement!) is
that this is a good thing. OS/2 had (has?) excellent emulation of
Windows. This was a problem for OS/2 -- nobody would write OS/2
native programs because companies would be lazy. They'd just write a
Windows version knowing it would work under OS/2 as well.

We have seen a lot of exciting ports to Linux lately -- WordPerfect 8,
Corel Draw and maybe Ventura coming, Netscape (been here for awhile),
Oracle, etc. We've already got a full office suite, so there aren't a
lot of things that are missing except perhaps for some games. Those
wouldn't run in emulation anyway. If I might ask, what sort of
Windows software would you like to run which you don't have Linux
equivolents of? Maybe there's something for Linux out there that's
been hiding :-)

Regards,
John Goerzen
