HI,
I quite agree with you on that desktop thing but I am using KDE my self and
like it so much.
The on.ly problem that I have is a movie player , But any way who does care
about it since you could get a vcd player for just 50$ any way I agree with you
that the x is not the best of user friendly enviorement in the world.
This is why an idea of creating my own x enviorement with java using the swing
is running on my mind .
I have not got the jdk with me now as soon as I do I will start .May be next
week. if I find it interesting I will give you a copy too.

can have auto-login, if you are sure of the physical security of the computer,
or if you don't care. I have never set it up that way, but I have setup some
systems with kdm allowing passwordless logins, and the icon/user (eg click on
username, and hit go) > > Or of course, there is what I use at home for the
general use computer: 4 X sessions, one for each person. (The only problem was
initially it only had 64 mb of ram, so it had to sometimes swap, but with
another 256 mb (~$30) it doesn't touch swap.) Just give everyone
Ctrl-Alt-F(7-12) key combos, and each time you reboot (which shouldn't be
often) setup the X sessions again. > > James L > > > > > > -- This is the
