I found magicfilter on a Corel Linux disk.  gzunzipped it, untarred it, did 
make,
make install and put what I think is the right stuff in printcap.

When I do:   cat somefile.txt | lpr
I get:             lpr: lp: lp:  unknown printer.

Something is not connected - I don't have a clue.
