Same way we do it on a modern display when we have nothing to display=20
for that glyph: insert some placeholder character. For example, your=20
emalis have ?s on a black diamond where there's an unknown character in=20
your mail (which is rather funny when you think about it, since you're=20
advocating ascii-only...)
