I believe my patch that removes the target_type should fix this.  
Either that, or removing the target_type isn't possible.  Go ahead and 
apply this fix if you want, but when I get a chance to test (and think 
through) the target_type patch more fully (probably tomorrow) if it 
works I will apply it instead.
