There is a substitution but with the wrong values:

# Find absolute paths for srcdir and builddir.
BUILDDIR="/home/hawk"
SRCDIR="/home/hawk"

It should be "/home/hawk/FC/clean". Maybe $top_srcdir and
$top_builddir aren't set?
