Based on a quick servey of 21 latest games on pubserver starting with 156744:
Gen 1: 9 games
Gen 2: 11 games
Gen 5: 1 game
Considering that gen 1 probably has a slight bias due to the fact that
it is the default generator if no other has been choosen, I would consider
that this is a pretty strong demonstration of a liking of generator 2.

The same aim cannot be accomplished by premaking the results
for the following two reasons:
1. The premade results would be fixed in width, height, number of players,
amount of desert, mountains, ...

2. The premade results could not be used on pubserver (or if they can, this
fact is not advertised on the pubserver homepage.)

I have tried to make it less specialized in the current version. See
some screenshots at:
http://www.honors.montana.edu/~jjc/gen_6_upload/

I certainly agree that it is and will be more bland than say, generator
5. However, as the pubserver seems to demonstrate, not many people playing
network games want the excitment and variety of gen 5. One of my goals
with generator 6 has been to make it reasonably fair for all players, so it is
certainly more bland. I will gladdly listen to any comments about how
to make it more interesting without giving any players a seriously lopsided
advantage.

I think that generator 6 that I have created should go into freeciv
since it adds an interesting new style of generator. Right now none of the
standard generators are designed for single continent play. I see that
as a substantial lack.
