Actually, the number of wasted packets was 8000 out of 8006.

Wow, that was an old bug. I still think a fix should be applied to the
pubservers. It occurs frequently that players reconnect, and there is a
significant lag and much annoyance. It also seems to be popular to use
the new /dead command for spectators, and in that case 4000 superfluous
tiles, representing about 43 kilobytes, are sent.
