I'm trying to do the same in Expectk. Test version is ready.
It controls the server over a pty. 
By now, I'm worrying with i18n. But I don't know whether I succeed
or not. Many systems, new versions, modpacks... it's difficult.

I don't mind if you do a similar thing. Auto-configure? Hhmm, sounds
nice. No idea how to do this in Expectk.
