Hello !

I don't know if this will simplify or amplify the problem but I couldn't resist
to add a 3D-colorization to the unit tiles too this afternoon ; I think Nicolas
will upload these as soon as possible to the freeciv server.

I like the original tileset, it is not extremly "flashy" but is coherent (all
tiles have the same look) and works well with a limited colormap (without
changing all the colors of the other running X apps when you don't have
millions of colors). I think this tileset should stay the original tileset.

I made the brunus tileset only for people coming from windows and used to
programs which looks good (but tastes bad), I think the original authors of
FreeCiV (what letters are to be capitalized in FreeCiV ?) didn't put this 3D
effect only becausse they didn't had a good video card (or a good paint
program) a this time. The brunus tileset should work with 256 colors.

The Engels tileset is impressive, it should'nt be altered and keep it's
millions of colours.

So is it possible to check at launch time the number of colors and choose the
tileset to use in function of this number (less than 256 => original, 256 =>
brunus, > 256 => engels) ? Are monochromes and grayscale tilesets needed ?

Best regards,
Brunus.
