Well, I have problems to find a useable historical map (you know,
the current projection style used for world maps is not that
old) and did not wanted to use a fantasy map. So if I had to
select a region - why not The Old World?

I think I'll leave it: The current Gtk-Client scales the pixmap
which looks very bad on this logo. Therefore I will have to
hack arround in the code to disable this "feature". Since I
do not want to implement alpha channel operation nor want to
introduce new library dependency nor want to invent the wheel
again I currently have no clue about how to implement a structured
background...

And beside that: I do not like *heavily* structured _backgrounds_...

But you are right, the current background looks a little bit
virgin like...
