That is part of the quoted-printable encoding.  The =20 are placeholders
for that final space on a line that ends in a space.  My guess would be
that most people reading your messages do not see them as most mail
clients know what to do with them.

I would imagine what is happening here is that the mailing list software
is probably doing some sort of 8-bit to ASCII translation or something.
Or perhaps it just doesn't understand the format.  Either way I'd imagine
the mailing list software is causing them to appear.

Send me a test mail directly to confirm but I'll bet they don't show up on
emails you send directly.

No sure how to make kmail not add the encoding.  Perhaps a setting to use
plain ASCII or something?
