I am by no means an emacs expert. I've never even used the program, save a
couple horrific minutes at WSU about 4 years ago. But... Is it possible to
run it in debug mode? (don't know if an editor would have that sort of
option or not... but since it has it's own programming language and
everything else under the sun, I suppose it might have a debug mode)
Have you tried running it as more than one non-root user? (Just wondering
if it's really a problem with non-root users, or just a specific user
account). Are any config files all in tact and with proper permissions?
Have you tried strace?
Do you have any Windows partitions? Perhaps emacs, with its infinate
abilities, has detected the presence of a Microsoft product and is going on
strike? :-)
