If at all possible, you really should get different IRQs for each serial
port...e ven if you aren't using the same IRQ on two ports at the same time. 
Set ttyS3 to IRQ5 or something if you can.  I'd be willing to bet that this
sharing of IRQs is what's causing your problems.

There's a way to share the line between ppp and mgetty... see the mgetty man
page, I don't remember the exact mgetty switch to use right off hand.  I do
know I have done it before, though.

Okay.  If they're both using 16550 UARTs, you should be able to go clear up
to 115200 without problems... Probably not a big deal if you're just doing
text stuff, but if you start using PPP or transfering files over the link,
etc, the extra speed will no doubt be appreciated. :-)
