I know, unfortunately.  For me, measures like the RBL, enabling every
anti-spam feature in sendmail, aggressive checks in Listar, etc. has
kept it down to a fairly low level, but still it does happen from time 
to time.

Listar does, indeed, have mechanisms to deal with this.  However, it
adds complexity for subscribers, which can sometimes result in turning 
people away.

Unfortunately, this is not necessarily possible here, as we need to
allow people that are not subscribed to still be able to post.  The
other alternative is to get a staff of moderators, but of course this
increases latency.

It's a nasty problem with no really good solutions.  Sigh.
