But I'm not listening to it, I'm ripping the CD audio to a .WAV.
The 24x drive is running at a constant speed--I see the light on at a steady
solid, and it certianly *sounds* steady. And cdparanoia reports a steady
stream of data.
When ripping CD audio, the read rate is unimportant--it can be 8x, or .5x,
and you'll still get the same quality .WAV file.
