The easiest way is to do an echo force > /path/to/diald.fifo in your crontab
when you want it forced up and do an echo unforce > /path/to/diald.fifo at
the time you want it forced down.  Where the fifo is located and what it is
named depends on distribution and/or you diald.conf.
