Debian 2.1 system that will initially fail to boot off of IDE hard disk
(hda1) after a cold boot. The POST process seems to not be giving the PC
access to the MBR or something weird like that.
I.e. I never see LILO anything eg. LI:
I have had boot problems in the past on a Linux box and would atleast see
LI: or something else like FG:
If I boot off of the Debian Custom Boot system disk from fd0 and get to
tty0, perform a warm boot, shutdown -r now, the system will then boot off of
hard disk no problem. If the warm boots continue, the system will boot off
of hard disk. If the PC is powered down (cold boot again), the
aforementioned cycle begins.
Is this a PC issue or can a Linux OS fix be investigated, previous hard disk
on the same system had never shown this behavior.
