The laptop is an old 486-33 epson. The 4meg ram is not upgradable, epson had an
exclucive on how it plugged in, and has since quit supporting the model 
altogether.
I had to put 1/4 inch spacers just to change the hard drive, as the case was too
small, and I had to make up a different ide cable for the new drive.  Mickey 
moused
to say the least, but I do not have 1.5k for a new one.
