not to worry, you'll survive the day. first thing is to create a linux partition you'll need to either partition your disk(if you wish to keep nt) . with nt you'll probably need some commercial software like partition majac. reformat the entire drive(if you don't). get an additional drive if you don't like either of the other options. after rereading your post i have a question.
i have had good luck with PHT and redhat. there are people on
this list that can help with any of the others.
dual booting both nt and linux is more complicated than 95/98 and linux.
