Hi Jeffrey,

Please take a look at http://www.aclug.org/ispconn/.  There's an
example for using completely text-based files (works with EVERY
distribution) for connecting to SouthWind.  There's also a description 
of using the graphical netcfg in RedHat for connecting to an ISP; we
have phrostie to thank for that one if memory serves.  Hopefully one
of those will be able to get you started.
