After the meeting last week I resolved to upgrade to RH5.2 and
kernel 2.2.2. After studying the situation I was able to upgrade
all of the software indicated in the changes file for 2.2.2.
All that is, except the C library. My system is running on libc6-2.0.7.so
and the changes file indicates libc6-2.0.7pre6 is required. I've
downloaded the pre6 tarball and read though the install file. Man,
this stuff looks difficult. I don't understand most of the arguments.
How much difference is there between the .so and the pre6? Do I
really need the newer version? Is upgrading the C library as daunting
as it appears? I've got the system working pretty well now, am I
likely to screw it up much trying to install the pre6? That's really
my biggest fear. I don't mind two steps back for every three forward,
but totalling this setup would blow me away.
What would anyone advise?

Thanks,

Wayne
