First, the cua* devices are outdated. The ttyS* devices should be
used instead; in this case, /dev/ttyS3 should be used. There may be

Secondly, the symbolic link is a bad idea because it interferes with
port locking. One should always use the port directly; otherwise, bad
things can happen (you can be knocked off, data could be corrupted,
etc). Also, the philosophy behind this is flawed; one may have more
than one modems.
