Load sharing (I believe) is simply divided up evenly using threads as the
divisor.
To compile kernel all you need to do is edit the toplevel (e.g.
/usr/src/linux/Makefile) and find the line that says SMP = and set it
equal to SMP = 1. Then recompile without APM and all is well (hopefully).
