I'm sort of thinking of a chat/console thing that's something along the
lines of Quake.

The feature that I particularly like about it is the facility for
'binding' keys to commands.  This makes the game pretty much infinitely
(well, not quite infinitely) configurable with respect to the interface.
I plan to make all possible player actions be commands that can be binded
to keys.

However, the interface to chat in Quake isn't particularly nice... I'll
try to not copy that :)
