I'm not sure what distro you're using, but /etc/sysconfig/network doesn't
exist in Debian.  So claiming that the hostname is configured there is a bit
premature.  Undoubtedly it is configured there for some systems.  Since we
don't know what distro "root" is using, I wouldn't jump to the conclusion
that he should modify anythying other than /etc/hostname and possibly
/etc/hosts, but he already did that.
