OK, I used the following two lines in my /etc/profiles.
export http_proxy=http://192.168.0.13:6588/
export ftp_proxy=http://192.168.0.13:6588/
They did the trick, but only after I rebooted my linux
box. I'm trying to grow beyond Microsoft. How to I
activate changes to /etc/profiles without
rebooting? I tried kill -HUP 1, but it didn't
work. evidently init isn't the right process to HUP.
