In absolute terms, the routes you are able to establish early on may only
bring 1-2 coins per route per turn, whereas those you are able to establish
later can easily be 7-8 per route per turn.  This doesn't sound like much, but
they add up, and since you get the coins each turn, they *really* add up over
time.

The immediate benefits are much higher; I would guess typically 10-20 times
what the per-turn benefits are.  So early on you might get something in the
ballpark of 20 coins each time you establish a route, while later on you can
easily get more than 100.
