[Freeciv] arrow keys don't work

nice work on the game.

the diagonal arrow keys don't work for me - I have a set of u/d/l/r 
arrows, as well as the arrows on my keypad at 8/6/4/2 - either work, but 
not diagonal (7/9/1/3). 

suggestions appreciated.  running on Solaris as such:
SunOS hotcones 5.7 Generic_106541-07 sun4m sparc SUNW,SPARCstation-4

apologies if this is FAQ; couldn't find it.
