Well, it's not a bug.  The goto is specifically chosen so that the plane
will never die in route.

If I'm not mistaken, this is done in a way, that the plane is always in a
city, airbase, or on a carrier, at the end of turn. For bombers, which are
able to 'live' one turn outside of cities, the resulting route is far from
optimal.

The bomber route is optimal.

Then an indication in the bomber unit icon for 'fuel' would be nice.
