Thanks for the answer. I just wondered why it worked without install, but not 
after install. 

If "./civserver" could be added to default locations where client tries to 
locate server, then this would work, if I only cd to /usr/local/freeciv/bin 
before starting client.

Of course this isn't such a big problem after v2.0 starts working better and 
older freeciv can be removed. Currently I can't add freeciv-2.0.0 to $PATH 
because older freeciv is on $PATH.
