QPE is the Qt Palmtop Environment, which can be the same thing as Qtopia
or not, depending on how you Google. See <http://qpe.sourceforge.net>
for (very little) information. I'm still trying to sort it out.

Basically, Qtopia (and its cousin Opie) is a kind of window manager and
applications suite built over QT/Embedded.

For some reason, Rob Fisher's client needs to link with -lqpe in
addition to -lqte, hence my calling it a QPE client. Maybe it's a
glitch, I'll need to look into it.

Both Qtopia and OPIE are GPL.

Yes, there's a virtual framebuffer called qvfb (found in
qt3-dev-tools-embedded in Debian), which can provide a testbed for
running QT/Embedded applications.
