Tiangle can be used too(i was say not, but i was wrong). the basic tiles
is

:S /\ S:
: /  \ :
:/ N  \:

:\ S  /:
: \  / :
:N \/ N:

but the real Earth map is more distorded, and math for the
Tieangle-Quincutial Projection need to be thinked. (there is very
complex to make a conformal projection for this problem, Pirece Was a
fine mathematician to make it in the square case)
For generated maps this is not a problem. and we can make Eart-art maps
too.

for the hex case, there are no way.
