Hi,

because of some features i needed to compile (and use) the gtk2 client.
And it is horrible slow. (Or unplayable)

I think the units move much slower than in the gtk-client.

After that i tried to do some profiling.

i used 
gtk-client with tileset trident_shields
gtk2-client with tileset trident_shields 

a savegame with 8 AIs, starting in 1595 AD stopping 1650.
Timeout 3 sec for the gtk-client, 30 sec for the gtk2-client.

The gtk2-client disconnected in the year 1615 ...
For the gtk-client it was no problem. 

Attached are the results and the savegame.
