The net income display comes from the return value of
player_get_expected_income().  This may not take into account events
that happen at the beginning of the next turn - like city growth or
building production, if indeed those do happen BEFORE income is calculated.

But other than that, I don't know what could be wrong with it.  If you
can track down the differences from what happens between turns, great.
