It would be nice to be able to open a saved game from within the running freeciv server. This would be beneficial for users who run the server via "Eterm -e civserver" from a menu.

Another idea (if it were possible, i'm not sure) would be to supply a script with freeciv that could copy and convert the civ2 tileset for use with freeciv. This would be useful for us civ2 fanatics who have converted to linux. The hires tiles just do not appeal to me.

In civ2 you could irrigate hills, I noticed that you cannot do this in freeciv (atleast not with settlers). Allowing settlers to do this would be nice.

The only other flaw in freeciv, aside from a developing AI, is the lack of sounds and from what I see, that is well under way. I know I will be looking for possible samples.

Freeciv is a great game. I have longed for civ ever since I left Windows a few years ago. You guys are doing a great job, keep up the good work!
