I need a little help with cvs: What is the easiest way to revert to the
official version after having changed something in your local copy.
I can get the following help text out of cvs:

---------------
Usage: cvs update [-APdflRp] [-k kopt] [-r rev|-D date] [-j rev]
    [-I ign] [-W spec] [files...]
        -A Reset any sticky tags/date/kopts.
        -P Prune empty directories.
-C Overwrite locally modified files with clean repository copies.
[...]
---------------

But when I try to run "cvs update -C" I get

---------------
bash-2.04$ cvs update -C
(Locally modified earth-80x50-v2.sav moved to .#earth-80x50-v2.sav.1.2)
cvs server: invalid option -- C
Usage: cvs server [-APdflRp] [-k kopt] [-r rev|-D date] [-j rev]
    [-I ign] [-W spec] [files...]
        -A Reset any sticky tags/date/kopts.
        -P Prune empty directories.
-d Build directories, like checkout does.
