Umm, we'll see. I at least downloaded the map-tiles-howto ;-)

So I would have three tiles to create a delta? The trouble is, that
one basically needs to paint all the borders for all possible adjacent
tiles, if I understand the howto correctly. And for two tilesets.

I'll probably be a lousy artist, but this will maybe force other
people to do better.

So please, somebody give Erik a good answer :) I cannot help him.
Two other points in map generation: If you have a high landmass, you
are likely to get lakes, i.e. ocean without connection to the big
ocean. I find it odd to have whales in there. Maybe you could address
this.
Second, I would welcome the possibility to name map features, like
rivers, lakes, mountains. The first player who discovers it, can
assign a name to the feature, which is then displayed in a
non-obtrusive way (small font like used for production).
