This almost sounds to me like you are suggesting coding what is often
referred to as 'true-AI' (indeed, by an academic definition of AI I once
read, to be Artificial Intelligence it must learn, improve, adapt, etc).

I think that would really throw Freeciv forwards in terms of progress, and
even get publicity from academic areas, but it would be a little bit hard,
dontcha think?

Still, it's more my programming game than UI's and graphics, so I might make
a contribution (shock horror)
