I did not mention those ;-)
I am not sure about caravels, but at least triremes should have no
trouble sailing up any river.

Making triremes able to sail on rivers would add some extra realism,
but when all the advanced shipdesigns would not be affected the gain
would not be very big.

Of-course this would make a good reason for adding more units.  Special
ship-designs that can sail up river would be neat :-)
