Arnold -
I was just trying to add a DIMM to his open second slot, could not tell via
the BIOS what the first installed DIMM's type/speed was or anything.
Since the value of a 64meg PC-133 DIMM is basically 'NILL' any more and I
happened to have this one laying around I was just trying to help him out.
But it just did not work out.
By the end of today I would of had two more 64meg DIMM's that I could of
tried... but he drove in from outside of Wichita to purchase the scanner
that I had for sale and I wanted to make sure that it would work with his
computer before I sold it to him.. so I had him bring along his CPU/CASE,
saw how little memory he had and was going to give him the memory.
It could of been his first DIMM that was really giving the troubles because
he has always said that the computer was always giving him 'BLUE SCREENS'
and by adding the second DIMM caused the error to happen during boot.???
Speaking of DIMM pricing.. picked up 2-512meg dimms the other day online for
$40 each!!! It was a one day sale and the dealer does not have a high
rating.. but I have done business with them in the past, so took the risk,
and "LOW AND BEHOLD" the memory is working like a charm in my HP Athlon
1700+ system... now maxed out this system memory at one Gig.
