If they are doing what I think they are doing, then yes it PPPoE using an
ethernet bridge -- which because they are tunneling, is transparent. That is,
neither the bridge nor the ethernet card has an IP address assigned.

Don't bet on it.  I have an address of 208.46.69.52, yet the gateway on the
other end of the line is 63.239.149.253.  As long as they have their routing
tables set up properly, it only matters is where the next hop is.
