So you were reading mail as root? What mail reader were you using?
If you were running as root, *ALL* bets are off. You should not be
running as root :-) This is why.

I've stated several times I was logged on as /home/mike NOT ROOT, and yes
sucks is a bit strong for the situation, but the main reason for switching
to linux was security, and something has happened. You can exchange sucks
for a less harsh word, but I am still quite displeased! I read mail with a
bullet proof feeling, and I know better to even open the internet while as
root. ( and I never do! ) The other option is I also use the same
password for the net at work, but I am not sure anybody there would know my
password! I do not use a weird password, as I need to remember it!

Can you send me a copy of the e-mail? I think it is a bit
presumptious of you to state that "Linux sucks" without providing us
more details. The behavior you describe does not seem possible given
the security model or mail readers that exist under Linux.

Let me know how to pull just the single email out of the email file that
kde mail uses. I still have /home/mike/mail intact. Kmail will not run as
any user, it is totally down, I do not know how to reinstall it either. In
windoz, I would just remove it and install it again. I have personal mail
in my mail file, and do not wish to share it. Just the offending mail.

Michael
