how do i check that?  i don't know that i explicitly told it to look to a
remote machine...  i mostly used the default stuff...  since i only have
one computer, i run X and everything else locally, so trying to talk to a
remote xfs COULD be doing something...  is there something in the XFree86
config file that tells about that?  or would it be in the
/etc/X11/xfs/config file?
