If you want to stop the netscape crashes, disable Java from within netscape preferences. That is what is causing the crashes. Of course, the downfall is that you won't have the ability to see java applets, etc. Isn't this where some smart elic says you can't have your cake and eat it too....:)

What? You want a browser that does something more then Lynx??? <g>

Yeah, Netscape on Linux is significantly less stable then other platforms I run
it on (WinNT, Solaris). I have a lot of problems with it crashing, but it
doesn't usually lock up my X server. I just love pressing the X to close one window and having all my Netscape windows vaporize. Doesn't happen every time,
but frequently enough to annoy me.

You might try Mozilla. I haven't installed it myself, but I know It's getting pretty close to being ready to release (one more build, I think they said), so it should be getting pretty solid. Far as I can tell, even beta code should be better then the current Netscape. It's got all the new extensions & stuff too.

There are other browsers available, but all seem to have some shortcoming. I occasionally browse with the little kfm file manager thing that comes with KDE.
It works for a lot of stuff, but I don't think it has java or any of that.
