1.) i don't have Win98SE, just Win95 or 98(first edition)
2.) it looks as if i may have to use a 386, and if not, i'm sure the
486 doesn't have PCI (which the modem is)... looks like we'll have to
do some re-thinking...
i've been trying to get WinGate running and working... haven't been
able to test the client PCs, but i have run into MAJOR problems on the
server box... i had it working great the other nite, then the guy
decides he wants IE5 on it and installs it himself... something got
muy f-ed up, and now when i run ERALink (fancy telnet program Reynolds
uses) to connect to their LOCAL server (10.20.101.194 in this case) it
tries to dial up... i have EITHER dialup to the inet OR a working
ERALink, but the damn thing won't let me use both...
i'm thinking i'll have to completely rethink this network, and i'm
leaning MUCH more strongly towards linux, as at this rate, learning all
this IP masquerading stuff will be MUCH easier! : ^ ) i'm going to try
out that idea tomorrow, and ask my dad (he works there and was the one
who got me the temp. job) if it'd be ok to use linux instead... it will
mean they will have to get a different modem, but that looks as if it's
my only option now, unless the users decide they will actually leave
the configuration alone! : ^ )
i'll let ya guys know how it goes, and expect more e-mails! : ^ ) i'm
sure i'll have mucho questions! :^ )
thanks for all the help!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
